The Budapest-Kelebia railway goes through Apaj.\u00a0 The Kuns\u00e1g-Vol\u00e1n’s coach service from Tass to Budapest goes through Apaj and the village has a direct bus service to D\u00f6ms\u00f6d, Kiskunlach\u00e1za and Kunszentmikl\u00f3s too.<\/p>\n Apaj Local Government: F\u0151 square 2. 2345 Apaj<\/strong> The name of Apaj stems from a Hungarian word. The name itself contains the noun \u201capa\u201d (father) and was given a \u201cj\u201d, which is the old version of the possessive case. A wide range of inhabitants from the stone age had lived here before the Settlement of the Magyars in Hungary. At first the name of the village, \u201cOpoy\u201d, was mentioned in a document from 1291. Apaj with a part of D\u00f6ms\u00f6d was the domain of a bride who was to become the queen. Later this area became the property of the Rozgony dynasty. During the Turkish rule, which lasted 150 years, the land was excessively damaged.\u00a0 After the expulsion of the Turks it became the land of the Bosny\u00e1k family, but after 1848-1849, the war of independence, it was seized by the Prince Philip Saxon Choburg Gatha.\u00a0 The castle in the centre of the estate functioned as a finance office. There was no church in Apaj, but there was great devotion to religious education.\u00a0 It was required to go to church on every Sunday and on holidays, when the people left for D\u00f6ms\u00f6d on carts and on spring-carriages.
