After the settlement of the Magyars in Hungary, this area was reserved for the monarch’s quarters. The land has constantly been inhabited since the Árpád era, with 11th century artifacts to prove it. Before the Tatars – in 1229 – its name was already mentioned. In the time of King Mátyás this was the area’s biggest village, provided with a school.
During the Turkish rule, it was almost totally destroyed. The village was rebuilt and Germans settled down here. It started to develop in the 19th century when the building of the suburban railway line began. The village turned into a holiday resort. Casinos, clubs and a convalescent hospital were built. Huge plots of land were sold. This process continued between the two World Wars too. In this time many factories were built. The village’s population exceeded that of Ráckeve and Szigetszentmiklós. With its civil and dance schools the village became a centre of education. An earthquake in 1956 badly damaged the village. Between 1945 and 1990 no notable plant was built. In spite of this, the population of Dunaharaszti has still increased. Because of its size and location, Dunaharaszti became the head of five other villages – Taksony, Alsónémedi, Majosháza, Délegyháza and Dunavarsány. Dunaharaszti was the first to develop a 100% infrastructure and was able to build a huge industrial park.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Small region” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Alsónémedi – Apaj – Áporka – Bugyi – Délegyháza – Dömsöd – Dunaharaszti – Dunavarsány – Halásztelek Kiskunlacháza – Kulcs – Lórév – Majosháza – Makád – Rácalmás – Ráckeve – Szigetbecse – Szigetcsép Szigethalom – Szigetszentmárton – Szigetszentmiklós – Szigetújfalu – Taksony – Tököl [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”62px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text] Dunaharaszti The village is 18 km to the south of Budapest along the main road No 510.
