The first district of the village is the historical Kiskunlach\u00e1za and the second district is Pereg. As the Razn\u00e1n chronicle says: at the time of King B\u00e9la IV refugees from 70 destroyed towns by the Tatars settled down in the outskirts of Kiskunlach\u00e1za looking for work and shelter. The village was a royal property after the settlement of the Magyars in Hungary. The mediaeval name of the village was Sz\u00e1nt\u00f3, but in the 14th century it was also called \u201cJosu\u201d. The Lakfy family got it from the king as a grant. Many houses from the 19th century preserved their \u201cHungarian Great Plain\u201d style. One of them is called the \u201cHouse with angels\u201d, for its romantic and gothic features.\u00a0 Nowadays it works as an ethnographic collection and pensioner club. The craftsmen workshops and the local history museum give the feeling of the old times to the tourists.\u00a0 Kiskun Farkas L\u00e1szl\u00f3 (1934-1995) a poet and Ga\u00e1l Imre (1922-1964) a painter (whose painting \u201cThe galley slaves\u201d decorates one of the offices at the local government) grew up in Kiskunlach\u00e1za.
