\nThe village was first mentioned under the rule of King B\u00e9la IV in 1259, known as Portus equorum (horse ferry).\u00a0 Presumably a group of the Serb refugees settled down in L\u00f3r\u00e9v, in 1440.
\nThe domination of the number of Serbs still remained in the 19th century. The closed community of the village kept the traditions alive. Now L\u00f3r\u00e9v is an independent village with its own local and minority government. The administrative function is done in conjunction with R\u00e1ckeve. Tourists in L\u00f3r\u00e9v are attracted to the village church from the 18th century, which has a beautiful 19th century altar.\u00a0 Another attraction is the Zichy Memorial Chapel in the Danube flood area, built by the royal family in 1859. The Art Gallery exhibition is noteworthy for its display of a piece of contemporary Serbian art. The visitors to the village can admire the beautiful environment and the plant and animal rarities. In the flood area forest there are more than 30 species of protected birds.\u00a0 This place is the best known for its calm and peaceful scenery.<\/p>\n
