Majosh\u00e1za<\/span><\/h3>\n

The village can be found to the south of Budapest and a few kilometres after Dunavars\u00e1ny, on the right side of the main road No 51. The village can be reached by bus from Szigethalom. The inhabitants get to the capital city by the Budapest-Baja or Kalocsa coach service.\u00a0 Dunavars\u00e1ny is to the north, D\u00e9legyh\u00e1za is to the east, \u00c1porka is to the south and the R\u00e1ckeve Danube branch is the natural border to the west.<\/p>\n

The name of Majosh\u00e1za comes from the old name \u201cMoys\u201d now known as Moses. The first document with the name Moys was written on June 3, 1337. The charters after 1411 mention the name Majosh\u00e1za. In 1572 Szegedy P\u00e1l’s family was the owner of the village. After the expulsion of the Turks in 1727 the Hal\u00e1sz and Gell\u00e9rt families owned the area. A few years later the area is mentioned as the property of the Jeszenszky family. In the 1848-1849 war of independence a lot of villagers fought in the Hungarian Army. In 1876, a flood severely damaged Majosh\u00e1za and the conflagration in 1883 badly damaged the village. A Reform church was built in 1891 in an eclectic style. Nowadays the inhabitants in Majosh\u00e1za experience an agrarian lifestyle.<\/p>\n
