Kiskunlacháza was originally two independent towns that were joined together in 1950. The first district of the village is the historical Kiskunlacháza and the second district is Pereg. As the Raznán chronicle says: at the time of King Béla IV refugees from 70 destroyed towns by the Tatars settled down in the outskirts of Kiskunlacháza looking for work and shelter. The village was a royal property after the settlement of the Magyars in Hungary. The mediaeval name of the village was Szántó, but in the 14th century it was also called “Josu”. The Lakfy family got it from the king as a grant. Many houses from the 19th century preserved their “Hungarian Great Plain” style. One of them is called the “House with angels”, for its romantic and gothic features.  Nowadays it works as an ethnographic collection and pensioner club. The craftsmen workshops and the local history museum give the feeling of the old times to the tourists.  Kiskun Farkas László (1934-1995) a poet and Gaál Imre (1922-1964) a painter (whose painting “The galley slaves” decorates one of the offices at the local government) grew up in Kiskunlacháza.
Bankháza also belongs to Kiskunlacháza and there is a classical style pension that is now a guest house with horseback riding for tourists.
