The historical artifacts found in the region confirm that the area has been occupied thousands of years. Huts dug in the ground, shells, animal historical artifacts, fireplaces, knives and grinders refer to the ancestors’ daily life.  In the outskirts of Tököl, the region’s biggest archaeological excavation revealed a huge cemetery. After the Settlement of the Magyars in Hungary, Árpád’s clan settled down here. The first document which mentions this village is from 1280. In the 15th century, Tököl became a royal property where a big number of craftsmen lived. This is confirmed by documents and the family names: Molnár (Miller), Ács (Carpenter), Takács (Weaver) and Kovács (Smith).
The Local History Museum includes an exhibition about the historical artifacts found in the neighbourhood. About 2 km from the village there is the renewed Saint Anna chapel.
