Szigethalom

The town is a half-hour by bus from Csepel and 40 minutes by suburban train from Közvágóhíd. A bridge connects the main road No 51 to Szigethalom.

Many historical artifacts have been found in the region.  At a construction site near the road to the Taksony Bridge, a family graveyard with bones from the bronze-era was found.
Until the 1880s the town was a part of Tököl.  In 1898, Judge Lajos Szilágyi began the first parcelling of land next to the area of the suburban railway, which is the reason the region was named Tököl-Szilágyitelep.
Between 1940 and 1942 an airplane manufacturing facility was built in the airfield of Tököl.
In 1950 Szilágyitelep got its autonomy from Tököl and a year later it was renamed to Szigethalom.
Many notable people were born in Szigethalom, including Mrs Jenő Nedeczky, the creator of the Patientia hair regenerative and Hélia D cosmetics, Károly Bajkó (1950-1997) a competitor of the Olympic Games, and Imre Kun, a well known sculptor.
Due to its history, Szigethalom does not have any memorials, but it has natural treasures.
